What you need to enrol, what to bring, when we run intakes and what it costs.
Before you apply
Entry requirements
- 18 years or older on the course start date
- South African ID, or a valid passport with a work permit
- Able to read, write and speak English
- No disqualifying criminal record (SAPS clearance required)
- Physically and medically fit for security duty
- Grade 10 for entry grades; higher grades require the grade below
Firearm competency courses have the same base requirements plus a clean SAPS check for the relevant firearm type and purpose.
Document checklist
Bring certified copies (not older than three months) on day one:
- Certified copy of your ID / passport & permit
- Proof of residential address
- Highest school report or certificate
- SAPS clearance certificate / affidavit (we can assist)
- Two colour ID photographs
- Existing PSIRA certificate & card, if upgrading
- Existing SAPS competency certificate, if any
- Proof of payment or an employer purchase order
Scheduling
Intake calendar
Foundation grades run monthly. Specialised and firearm courses run on fixed dates — apply early, seats are limited.

Investment
Fees
Course fees include tuition, materials, assessment and the academy certificate. Regulator fees (PSIRA registration, SAPS competency) and ammunition are quoted separately.

Payment
A deposit secures your seat; the balance is due before assessment. We accept EFT and employer purchase orders. Ask admissions about instalment options and SETA-funded group bookings.

Frequently asked
No. Grade E is designed for people entering the industry for the first time. You only need to meet the entry requirements above.
Once you receive your Statement of Results you can apply to PSIRA for registration. Employers may place you while registration is processing, depending on their policy and the site.
We prepare and guide your PSIRA application and provide the training documents it needs. The registration itself is between you (or your employer) and PSIRA, and the PSIRA fee is payable to them.
No. The course makes you competent on the unit standards. You then apply to SAPS for a competency certificate, and your employer must licence and issue the firearm for business purposes. See the firearms section.
Possibly. Some offences are an absolute bar; others are assessed by PSIRA on the facts and how long ago they were. Declare it on your application and we will advise you honestly before you pay.
Yes. We run on-site and scheduled group intakes for security companies, including upgrade programmes and annual firearm re-qualification. Contact admissions for a group quotation.
